Gym Fitness Facility Cleaning Checklist in Louisville, CO; Equipment, Lockers, Restrooms & More

One of the biggest challenges athletic clubs, gyms and fitness centers face is keeping the facility clean. Not only are dealing with public contact but dealing with it when people are sweating and will traverse throughout establishment. Germs are being left behind on machines, lockers, restrooms, and showers along with the common areas, drinking fountains, vending machines and so on. In any case, keeping the athletic club clean, sanitized, and presentable is easier done with Baker Sandoval Cleaning. Today, we would like to share the athletic club cleaning checklist with you.

Antibacterial Spray & Cleaning Gym Equipment

Deep cleaning exercise equipment, weights, and machines periodically is essential to killing the germs and bacteria that can thrive in such conditions. This should be done at least once a week but the more often the better. At the very least, throughout the day, these surfaces should be wiped down wit a disinfectant to minimize the germs floating around your facility. Though it is nice to get the members to take the initiative and wipe down the equipment after each use, it is an unrealistic expectation, especially on a busy day. When you walk the gym, make regular cleanings of touch points like free weights, treadmill controls, and machine handles and handlebars in order to avoid bacteria transfer throughout the day. Avoiding cross contamination is also important. Consider disinfectant wipes to avoid this dilemma or designated rags and cleaner at each equipment station.

Fitness Facility Restroom Maintenance

Restrooms are a complicated manner. Cleaning systems must remove soils from toilets, sinks, stalls, and floors while minimizing the risk of cross-contamination for not only customer health, but also to maintain a clean space for your customers and prospective members. Ensuring you remove the buildup of grit and grime is essential and eliminating the germs and bacteria is equally important. The last thing you want is for your gym to earn the reputation of being the place to catch the flu. Be sure to have designated cleaning supplies for the bathrooms to avoid cross contamination for in between your professional cleaning services.

Locker Room & Shower Cleaning

Not every facility offers a locker and/or shower room, but if yours does, disinfecting the room at the end of the day is important to not only combat the germs and bacteria members track in, but these areas are the perfect climate for mold and mildew to thrive. The locker rooms and showers should ideally be wiped down and properly ventilated throughout the day but at the minimum, touched up at the end of the day. Be sure handles, floors, and curtains are all included during the wipe down. These surfaces are constantly being touched and germs can spread.

Floor & Common Touch Point Cleaning

Paper towel dispensers, benches, computer screens, and exercise mats are just a few examples of common touch points in a gym. These points have the highest potential for germ transfer. Ensure that the surfaces staff and members make contact with are cleaned and disinfected throughout the day. Floors should be vacuumed, or dust mopped a few times throughout the day to maintain a neat and clean appearance.
