How Do You Strip, Wax & Refinish VCT Flooring?

1) Stripping Prep. To protect your skin from possible irritation it is highly recommended to take protective measures by wearing of rubber gloves. According to the manufacturer’s instruction, use a bucket to prepare the stripper. It is critical the dilution ration is followed correctly. Also, make sure all the windows and doors are open if the weather permits and if applicable, flip on all the fans.
2) Make a Plan. Make sure to plan the execution. You scrub the areas prior to stepping on, be certain when you start using your low-speed scrubber. This helps you reduce the risk of slipping and ensure you the efficiency of the project.
3) Stripper Application. Saturate the flour with the stripper mixture using a mop to spread it over the entire floor while wearing rubber boots. As you give the solution time to strip the previous wax, apply more of the stripper agent to sustain the process.
4) Side by Side with a Low-Speed Scrubber. Attach a stripping pad (black pad) onto the floor scrubber and start scrubbing the floors in small sections to strip the previous wax on the floor. To wipe away splatters that may occur on the walls and doors, a cotton rag may come in handy. Once you notice a decline in efficiency, change the stripping pad, flip to use other side.
5) Clean the Surface. In order to get rid of the loose wax from the floor use a dry vacuum. Safely dispose the remaining stripper and do a thorough cleanup of the bucket and mop using hot soapy water. Ensure the maximum removal of any wax or stripper remaining by rinsing the mop with plenty of water.
6) Administer the Wax. Have a bucket with VCT floor wax and a clean mop. Onto the floor in small sections, dip the mop into the wax and apply it.
7) Let the Wax to Dry Fully. Depending on the day’s weather and humidity, the wax could dry in fifteen to thirty minutes. Accelerate the drying process by leaving the fan lines.
