Organized Houseworks Christmas Holiday House Cleaning Grand Plan & Checklist in Lafayette, CO

Hosting any type of holiday event can be overwhelming, especially if you expect a number of family members and friends to attend. Whether it is a party, get-together or the main event, you want to ensure the home is as clean as the food is delicious. Despite having much to do and little time to do it in, you want the overall presentation to be perfect and at this time, we at Baker Sandoval Cleaning would like to take the opportunity to offer some tips and advice to help you get the cleaning done in time for the holidays.

Christmas Holiday House Cleaning Checklist

1) Get started early. This is about the time of year where your break out the holiday decorations, if you haven’t done it already. To make the process easier, snag a box and go from room to room, and place all the year-long decorations to make room for your holiday traditional decorations. This can be done by getting the kids involved as well; making it into the game telling them it’s a competition who can get five things from every room first, or whatever is feasible for the age group or the amount of decorations need to be moved to make room. In addition to the décor, have it apply to any clutter or toys piling up. The excitement of this special time of year can be motivation to solicit the help.
2) Don’t do it all at once. Procrastinating the cleaning, forcing it to be a one day event can make anyone lose their mind. Do not frustrate and overwhelm yourself by trying to do it all at once; instead, break it into sections. Tell yourself you will focus on one or two rooms a day until the job is done, even if it takes you the entire week or even two to get it done. As you go through the clutter, remind yourself that if you haven’t used it in over 12 months, odds are you are not going to. Hold a garage sale, donate it to a second hand establishment or a charity, and toss the trash. Tackle each room from top to bottom, literally, getting the dust and cobwebs off the ceiling, registers, light fixtures, etc; dusting, polishing, and treating the upholstery, curtains, blinds, and flooring should all be done.
3) Keep cleaning maintained. After you have completed a room, don’t neglect it as you focus on the other rooms in the days to come. You worked hard getting the previous rooms in pristine condition and especially with little ones around, it can be a challenge to maintain. Keep the room looking stunning and touch up the surfaces with a feather duster, wipe up smudges and don’t let the clutter buildup. To keep the room smelling fresh and invited, light your favorite scented seasonal candle to add more holiday cheer.
4) Indulge yourself with a reward. After the cleaning is completed and the holiday décor in place, take the time to reward yourself for a job well done. You have earned some indulgence; whether you want to do some crafting, baking, shopping, or even a spa day; do it!
